Backlight 1.0.1 is now available. This update is recommended for all users. It addresses stability and compatibility issues, bugs found since last week’s launch, and brings some minor feature improvements as well.
For instructions how to perform the update, as well as a detailed list of all that’s new and changed in 1.0.1, please see the changelogs.
I would also like to take a moment to thank our early adopters of Backlight. When we decided to develop outside of Lightroom’s Web module, we felt it was the right thing to do, but we had some trepidation over whether or how quickly that decision would be embraced by you. Since launch, your overwhelming positivity and enthusiasm for Backlight has given us great encouragement and relief. Ben and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and we’re gratified to know that as you’re as excited as we are to see Backlight grow.
In the course of preparing this update, we did uncover another issue: maps buttons in the large-image view cannot be pressed on touch-screens; rather than triggering the button, the tap hides the UI. A fix for this issue is out-of-scope for the 1.0.1 patch; it will be addressed in a larger, future update. Maps buttons do function correctly on mouse interaction, so work well on desktops. If the lack of mobile access for the feature is something you cannot abide in the interim, you can disable maps buttons altogether from the album’s settings panel in TTG Publisher.
